Today, the National Director of Health, Jorge Noel Barreto, said that the situation in the country is very favorable, but it must be strengthened and that we need to remain vigilant. Jorge Noel Barreto put this into consideration, at his usual press conference on the epidemiological development of COVID-19 in the country.

According to Jorge Noel Pareto, in the last 14 days, that is, from February 14 to 26, a total of 6016 samples were analyzed, giving an average of 430 samples analyzed per day during this period, which allowed identification. 42 new cases, an average of 3 new cases per day, and a positivity rate of 0.7%.

And that in the past 14 days, from January 31 to February 13, a total of 6667 samples were analyzed, with an average of 476 samples analyzed per day, which allowed the identification of 161 new cases, giving an average of 12 new cases for each with a positive rate of 2.4%.

“As we can see from this data, there is a very positive or positive development that will be confirmed, at least, during these two weeks. It indicates that the transmission rate or RT at the national level is 0.70, less than 1, which is very good.”

Regarding the cumulative infection rate at the national level, he said that in the last 14 days it was 8 cases per 100,000 people. “It’s also less than 25 per 100,000 residents, and that’s what’s needed.”

“The two municipalities that still have a cumulative infection rate between 25 and 150 per 100,000 inhabitants are Sal and Ribeira Brava in São Nicolao. Sal has a population of 39 per 100,000 inhabitants and Ribeira Brava in São Nicolao 30 per 100,000 inhabitants,” he said, noting that All other municipalities have a cumulative incidence rate of less than 25 per 100,000 inhabitants.

In the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health has notified 4 more positive cases of COVID-19. There are 5 others who have recovered across the country. The national positivity rate is 1.0%.

According to the Epidemiological Bulletin issued this Monday, 28, by the Ministry of Health, out of a total of 400 samples analyzed, there are 4 new cases of COVID-19. These cases were diagnosed in Praia (1), Sal (2) and Boa Vista (1). 5 more people (São Vicente 2 and Sal 3) were discharged.
