The Federal District Health Department (SES-DF) is awaiting Department of Health approval to reduce the age range of people who can take the fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Currently, the audience who can receive the second booster dose of the immune system includes people 35 years of age and older.

In an exclusive interview with capital Cities , The DF Minister of Health, Lucilene Florêncio, said the file had already been requested by the ministry, but so far, it had not received official permission to reduce the target age for the immunization campaign.

It is a very complex issue that worries us. However, we follow the protocol of the Ministry of Health, as there is still no recommendation to reduce the age group. We have already made some inquiries to the ministry and are waiting for a response so we can first be provided with the doses and then we can reduce the age range,” Lucilene said.

According to the secretary, the fund is able to receive and distribute doses, but confirmed that the ministerial recommendation is in writing. “What is missing is a clearly written recommendation from the Ministry of Health.”

During the interview, Lucilene also commented on planned new competitions and team efforts for elective surgeries.

A month without deaths

The federal district has completed a month without recording deaths from Covid-19. On Friday (9/9), the Department of Health (SES-DF) reported 94 new cases and no deaths. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the country’s capital has recorded 837,928 positive diagnoses and 11,825 deaths.

For the health portfolio secretary, the absence of deaths from the virus is a victory in the federal capital. “It is the result of the work of an entire team. First, the awareness of the population regarding individual care and our expansion of screening and immunization.”

The baud rate is at 0.74. The number indicates that each group of 100 infected people can transmit the disease to an average of 74 others.

Of the total number of confirmed cases, the largest number occurred among the 30- to 39-year-olds and 40-49-year-olds. The highest mortality rate is seen among the population over 80 years of age.

Plano-Peloto remains the area with the most records in DF. As of Friday (9/9), 103,670 people have tested positive in the administrative district, and 873 people have died. Selandia comes second, with 77,364 cases and 1,772 deaths.
