Minas will have eight athletes and two coaches among Brazil’s representatives at the Paralympic Swimming World Championships. The competition will take place in Manchester, UK, between July 31 and August 6 this year.

Those called are part of the Praia Club, from Uberlandia, a club that trains athletes from Triângulo Mineiro that was among the key players in the invitation made by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB).

All athletes, in addition to coaches, benefit from the “Bolsa Atleta” and “Bolsa Técnico” programmes, offered by the Government of Minas Gerais, through the State Secretariat for Social Development of Minas Gerais (Sedese-MG) and the Undersecretariat for Sports (SPEC).

Notable athletes called up in Praia are: Gabriel Bandera, Gabriel Giraldo dos Santos Araujo (Gabrielzinho), Gabriel Melón de Oliveira, Guilherme Batista Silva, Joao Pedro Brutos de Oliveira, Leila Suzijan Abbate, Ruan Felipe Lima de Souza and Samuel da Silva de Oliveira. The technicians are Alexandre Silva Vieira and Fabio Pereira Antunes.

I am counting on your fans. I invite all the fans from Minas Gerais and Brazil to cheer us on and let’s go!

incentive programme
In terms of general policies of Sedese-MG, the “Bolsa Atleta” and “Bolsa Técnico” programs financially support athletes, para-athletes and coaches who work in the Olympic Games, Paralympics and some non-Olympic sports.

The program helps defray the expenses of registration for competitions, tickets, accommodation, food for sporting events, transportation, and the acquisition of materials and equipment for training athletes, as well as training courses for coaches.

Those wishing to apply for the Public Policy should access the notice published annually on the website: www.social.mg.gov.br.
