The Indaiatuba Health Secretariat will carry out the procedure next Tuesday (7) in Praça Alderador Roberto dos Anjos, in Jardim São Conrado, starting at 9 am. The goal is to instruct the residents of the area regarding dengue care and also on boxes containing transgenic mosquitoes, Aedes do Bem, which are placed at strategic points in the neighborhood.

Oxitec, a partner company of City Hall in the Aedes do Bem project, will also be present from 9 am to 1 pm, next Tuesday (7).

Aedes do Bem Project

The Aedes do Bem project, started in 2019, deals with the release of transgenic (genetically modified) Aedes aegypti mosquitoes into the environment to breed with females (vectors). In crossing, only male mosquitoes are born, which are not dengue vectors. With this procedure, the number of female mosquitoes responsible for transmitting diseases is greatly reduced. In recent years, the city of Indaiatuba has noticed the excellent results from this technology in its territory in the fight against the disease, and for this reason, in a joint agreement, it has decided to expand the work even further. This pilot project is managed by Oxitec.
