The regional leader – head of the opposition Justice Party (Peronist) – announced on social media that he had appointed lawyers Eugenio Raul Zavaroni, a former member of the Argentine Supreme Court and former judge of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and Raul Gustavo. Ferreira to formalize before the Supreme Court of Justice “a declaratory procedure in which it is requested to declare the decree unconstitutional.”

A few days after assuming the presidency of Argentina, Miley signed the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) to liberalize the economy, which included the repeal of several laws.

According to Quintilla, the decree – which entered into force today – entails “irreparable harm to citizens”, because it contravenes several articles of the National Constitution of Argentina and Article 26 of the American Convention on Human Rights (ACHR).

Furthermore, the Governor of La Rioja asked the Supreme Court to issue a precautionary measure to fully suspend the effects of the decree, and also asked it to order the government not to implement any of its provisions until a final solution to this process is reached.

The decree has already been the subject of other individual and collective presentations in various judicial bodies, but this decree announced today by the Governor of La Rioja is the first before the Supreme Court.

In addition to last week's Decree of Urgent Need (DNU), Miley sent a draft law to Parliament on Wednesday declaring a state of public emergency in Argentina until the end of 2025 – extendable for another two years – a period during which she has broad legislative powers. They are delegated to the president.
