Since Windows 95, the Print Screen key has the same function: taking a picture of whatever is on the screen at that moment and placing it on the clipboard, or clipboard (if the English version of the system is used). But soon, everything may change, because Microsoft plans to change the default function of this key so that it automatically opens the Snipping Tool when pressed.
In the latest beta builds of Windows 11, 22621.1546 and 22624.1546, when you press the Print Screen key, what happens is the Snipping Tool opens. Until now, this tool was accessible via its icon or the Windows + Shift + S key combination.
Windows Snipping Tool is one of our most used here and it combines several features previously found in different applications. It allows you to take pictures of rectangular areas of the screen, windows, and the entire screen. In addition, the tool allows you to set a time period of up to 10 seconds to take the photo and also allows you to edit the photos. In the latest versions, it is also possible to record videos of what is happening on the screen.
Although in new versions of Windows 11, the Print Screen key function change is turned on by default, anyone who wants to get the original function of the key can go back to Settings, Accessibility, Keyboard, and turn off the Use Key function.
