Newcastle court found Antonio Neil on Monday guilty of racially abusing Brentford striker Evan Toney after the player scored twice in the Premier League victory against Brighton in October 2022.

Antonio Neal sent the racist messages through Instagram and Tony shared the attacks he received on his profile. Following the revelation, Northumbria Police launched an investigation. In January this year, the 24-year-old was found guilty of the crimes.

The racist who attacked Evan Toney on social media in October has been banned from all stadiums in the UK for three years plus a four-month suspended prison sentence valid for two years.

On Monday, Antonio Neil was banned from attending any football match in English stadiums for three years and given a suspended prison sentence of two years if he commits another offense in the next four months.

Antonio Neil lives on Rupert Street in South Shields in the North East of England. The penalty he received is valid in all major divisions of English football such as the Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two and National League, as well as the matches of the England national team.

Northumbria Police Superintendent Scott Cowie said: “Discrimination has no place in society, whether in our communities or online. It will not be tolerated and we will do everything we can to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
