A British Council project seeks to encourage women to study STEM careers at UK universities

Globally, the British Council is establishing support programs for women and girls in STEM, designed with a holistic approach.

It aims to encourage young women to work in science, technology, engineering and maths, helping those working in these areas to achieve leadership positions and to connect with peers in their home region and across the UK.

These initiatives include global partnerships with 19 UK universities. For Brazil, Aston and Essex universities offer vacancies aimed at Brazilian women with a background in STEM to encourage future generations, especially those living under financial constraints, to pursue inclusive lives.

Selected applicants will receive a scholarship to study a postgraduate degree at one of the prestigious UK universities that are part of the programme.

About British Council Scholarships

The scholarship is designed to advance the careers of women in STEM by providing them with the support they need to excel in their chosen fields. The scholarship covers the following benefits:

  • Visa fee
  • Travel expenses (flights and accommodation)
  • Tuition fees at your chosen university
  • English course, language support if required
  • IELTS English language test fee refund if required
  • Medical insurance

Recipients of the 100% scholarship will have the tools to promote research and innovation in their home countries and foster progress and advancement in STEM.

How to register?

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is April 30, 2024, which will offer places to Brazilian women with a STEM background at Aston and Essex universities. Candidates are advised to check the deadlines on each university's website.
