Decide what and when you want to share your information with Samsung Galaxy’s dedicated security panel

In an increasingly connected world, our data drives practically everything we do online: it explains how we search and buy, how we appear on digital networks, and even how our devices work.

To keep up with a world where our lives are becoming more data-centric, Samsung prioritizes people’s security and privacy.

You may choose to share some of your data with apps so that this information can be used to improve your online experience. However, it is important to recognize the value of this data, and understand the importance of protecting it from malicious uses.

To ensure Galaxy users are able to manage their data according to their preferences, and enable them to easily navigate an increasingly data-driven world, Samsung is simplifying this task by Security and privacy dashboard.

Security and privacy dashboard

On Samsung Galaxy devices, people can access the Security & Privacy panel, a dedicated space that shows, in a simple and clear way, which apps can view your data and how they’re used.

The Security & Privacy Dashboard is available on Samsung Galaxy devices running One UI 5 and later. The feature is available on the new Galaxy A35 5G, A55 5G, Galaxy M15 5G, M55 5G, Galaxy S24 line, and Galaxy Tab S9 tablet line.

By bringing together security and information protection in one place, Samsung gives people insight into what might be at risk. On this panel, the security status, as well as configuration options, are under the complete control of Samsung Galaxy owners.

When it comes to protecting personal information, controlling app permissions is one of the simplest ways to ensure your data isn’t shared without your consent.

To access this feature, on your Samsung Galaxy device, access Security and privacy dashboard influential Settings And then, Security and privacy.

Below, learn about four important permissions available in the Security & Privacy panel of your Samsung Galaxy device.

Manage ads with ease

For those who shop online and don’t want to receive targeted ads, simply access the Security & Privacy panel, select “More Privacy Settings,” then “Ads,” and finally, “Delete Advertising Identifier.”

Location-based services management

Location is one of the things people want to have the most control over, as more apps use services based on your location. In the Privacy & Security dashboard, you can see which apps have monitored your location in the past 24 hours, providing the option to select a new setting, such as sharing your location only when using the app.

Manage microphone and camera permissions

Galaxy device owners can choose which data can be accessed by a specific app, which may require different permissions depending on each situation.

For example, a game might require you to use your microphone to communicate during games, but if the app accesses your microphone at all times, you can change that setting in the Security & Privacy panel — including revoking microphone access when the app is running . Ask not in use, or even revoke this access completely. The same settings apply to camera access.

Manage your application preferences

You may have already downloaded an app for a specific occasion and no longer use it. It is common for you to not realize that these apps are still installed and have all the access you allowed while using them for the first time.

To prevent apps from accessing more data than necessary, Galaxy devices proactively protect people’s privacy by removing permissions from apps that haven’t been used in a while.
