The judge also explained that the case is still in court because “there was no agreement between the parties” and that the trial will take place behind closed doors because it “involves confidentiality of the terms of contracts, which are exactly confidential.”

About a month after the broadcaster’s departure from SIC, where it became known that she would take over the management of TVI’s entertainment and fiction, the Paço de Arcos station demanded compensation of 20 million euros from the former worker for breach of the contract that was valid until 2022.

The compensation request was sent to Cristina Ferreira in August 2020, giving her 15 days to pay the amount or submit a payment plan, according to Lusa.

Christina Ferreira confirmed in a statement that SIC “recoursed to her to pay compensation for lost profits worth approximately 20 million euros,” declaring that she did not intend to meet the expectations of her former employers.

“In this matter, I would just like to point out that the said amount has no basis or contractual basis, so I completely refute the claim of that entity, ready to guarantee and defend my interests until the last resort,” the presenter emphasized in the note sent to the newsrooms in that the time.

Subsequently, SIC filed a lawsuit against Cristina Ferreira, initially demanding compensation in the amount of €20,287,084.54, as stated on the Citius portal. However, the value was revised to 12.3 million, almost half, but higher than what the bidder was willing to pay: 2.3 million euros.

The trial continues Wednesday afternoon, with a hearing for Impreza CEO, Francisco Pedro Balsimao. The factual and legal arguments are scheduled for December 6th.
