The fire, which occurred in the Meseta Iberica Biosphere Reserve, set about 25,000 hectares of forest surface on fire, and stemmed from the first heat wave recorded this year, caused by lightning from a storm that caused 14 different points of origin in. Mountains (known in Spanish as Sierra de la Culebra).

This fire, which the fire department did not consider to have been completely extinguished, although it was brought under control nine days after its outbreak, affected a total of 15,502 hectares of trees, 8,258 hectares of bush, 813 hectares of grass, and 452 hectares of agricultural land and 211 hectares. Other types of roofs, according to data from the Junta de Castilla y León fire suppression service.

A little more than a month after this fire, on July 17, another fire was declared in the area, also caused by lightning, killing a firefighter in the forest and a sheep breeder. The fire burned about 31,500 hectares, according to satellite measurements from the European Copernicus system.

This fire is still active by the Junta de Castilla y León fire service 28 days after it broke out in Losacio.

In addition, another fire broke out in the area on July 24, in Lusacino, and it was brought under control after burning about 1,600 hectares, of which about 190 trees, 451 shrubs, 49 grasses, 849 farmlands and 55 other types of terrain.
