Google has been one of the most active voices in trying to convince Apple to adopt the RCS messaging standard on the iPhone. Now, we also have Samsung joining the fray with a new way to “excite” its major rival.

Apple’s stubbornness in adopting this communications standard is now captured in a short video published by the South Korean company. The goal is to get North American tech to end the persistent gap between those who use Android and iOS.

Samsung is the latest company to want to see RCS on the iPhone

In just a 30-second video, Samsung simulates a conversation between an Android user and an iOS user. With some romantic content, the fears of those living apart are reflected simply because of the stubbornness of someone protecting one side.

In this short conversation, he mentions that “the green bubbles and the blue bubbles want to be together.” Moreover, this scenario is said to be happening despite everyone wanting to see them together.

Without mentioning any name or service specifically, this short video from Samsung leaves no doubt as to its purpose. The problem is the ongoing divide between the two most widely used mobile platforms in the world.

The RCS standard has become a common sight on smartphones in the Android world, thanks in large part to Google. However, Apple remains reluctant to adopt this technology, depriving iMessage users of more consistent communication with their acquaintances in the Android world.

This stubbornness, as many call it, may be another strategy for Apple to lock users into its ecosystem. Only Apple users will be able to take full advantage of all the benefits that the iMessage platform has to offer.

Will Apple change its position on this issue? You probably would never do so willingly, but this change could eventually come to fruition by being imposed by the European Union under the Digital Markets Act.
