Portugal, represented by SPMS, has been elected Vice-Chair of the most prominent intergovernmental organization in the field of digital health, the Global Digital Health Partnership (GDHP). The elections took place during the twelfth session of the GDHP Summit 2023, on December 4 and 5, in London, United Kingdom.

Nuno Costa, member of the Board of Directors of SPMS, and Katia Souza Pinto, Coordinator of Global Digital Health and International Relations at SPMS, were present at the GDHP elections for the next two years. This appointment confirms SPMS’s prominent position and commitment to digital transformation, with the aim of providing better digital health services to citizens.

Developing and strengthening the digital strategy in the health sector, through the exchange of knowledge and good practices, was the challenge for SPMS, which meets the objectives of GDHP, an organization of which SPMS has been part of since 2018.

The GDHP is a structure of cooperation and synergy between representatives of governments and the World Health Organization (WHO), whose purpose is to promote the development of policies that promote the digitalization of the health sector, on a global scale. It seeks to encourage synergies among members, focusing on developing sustainable, high-quality digital health services, and making contributions in key areas such as clinical engagement and consumer engagement, cybersecurity, evidence and evaluation, and interoperability.

With this appointment, Portugal succeeds the Netherlands, which will now assume the presidency of the organization. As Vice President of GDHP, our country is gaining international fame in terms of digital health services.
