There is a dream of Europe little explored by the Portuguese, which has the advantage of continuing to offer prices acceptable to our purchasing power. We have already talked about Albania, Bosnia or Kosovo. Not far is the beach Condé Nast listed it among the most beautiful beaches in Europe. We are now talking about Sveti Stefan, in Montenegro.

It is a very small peninsula “connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of pink sand”, where you can see its clay-coloured surfaces. The French magazine recalls how in the 1960s this small pearl submerged in clear waters was a refuge for the rich and famous. Now under management Aman Luxury Resort (See gallery above) It remains the most elegant shelter in the country.

However, if your wallet doesn't suit Aman, there is no shortage of very affordable options on Montenegro's most popular beach. The left side of the sandbar, surrounded by pine trees, is for the exclusive use of hotel guests (or those who want to invest in sun loungers), while the right side is open to all.

Alternatively, we can choose less expensive accommodation e.g Harmonia Bungalows & Ballwhich offers the perfect atmosphere with reservations under €100 (see gallery above).

For the Portuguese, there is also the advantage that the euro is the official currency in this country and that most credit cards are accepted. For stays of less than 90 days, you only need to obtain a citizen card or passport, as described in Communities portal.

“Montenegro is a fairly safe country, although there is some minor crime, so you should leave valuables and money in a hotel safe and park your car in car parks whenever possible. As a precaution, it is recommended that you keep a copy of your passport in a different place than usual.” (This will help if it is lost),” the Portuguese government portal recommends.

As for the gastronomy, you only have to look at the photos of any restaurant in this region to realize that it is very similar to what is eaten in the Portuguese coastal areas, a cuisine that is very familiar to us. On the menus, we find fresh grilled fish such as sea bass or swordfish, squid, squid and octopus, a variety of seafood such as prawns or lobster, lots of fresh vegetables and irresistible salads and desserts.

One of the best rated restaurants by Tripadvisor users is Konoba more (See gallery above), where you can eat a A serving of squid stuffed with shrimp costs 11 euros Or lobster at 90 euros per kilo over the sea.

But if you look carefully, as happens in Portuguese areas, you will find restaurants with high-quality menus and very reasonable prices. This is the situation L&Ma little further away, where the full menu with soup, ham, cheese, fresh meat or fish dish, dessert and wine costs €7 in total.

Montenegro is not reached directly from Portugal, and for this reason, it remains an area little explored by the Portuguese. There is the option of flying to Dubrovnik, in Croatia, and stopping in another European city. This Croatian city is connected to Sveti Stefan by road (including a ferry crossing), the journey taking about two hours.

Scroll through the gallery above and watch the video below to see what you can find in this Montenegro region:
