Apple is preparing some new features for future updates to its flagship browser, Safari. However, they do not seem to have gone down well with some parties.

These new features, according to Apple, aim to ensure that users of the company’s devices have more control over their privacy while surfing the web. Among them, Safari has the ability to block ads on online sites by default.

Obviously, this move has not gone down well with some quarters, especially those who depend on advertisements for their living. One of them is news websites, which seems to be causing some problems for Apple right now.

There will be a group of UK newspapers Proceeded with an open letter As opposed to Apple, it derives from these future features planned for Safari. Although they are not yet available and have only been discovered in “leaks”, the group says this activity could seriously compromise the revenue of many news sites on the Internet.

The UK News Media Association sent a letter to Apple expressing concern about how this new Safari feature could compromise the future of journalism and prevent immediate rewards. At the same time, the document also notes how this activity compromises the income of many content creators on the Internet, cutting off their main source of income.

The company has requested a meeting with some of Apple’s executives to try to evaluate a possible solution to the problem. However, Apple has yet to respond.

Keep in mind that the Safari functionality has only been spotted in leaks and is currently not official or confirmed by Apple.
