An average of 73,600 passengers disembarked at Portuguese airports per day, “a much higher value than that recorded in February 2022 (47,800; +54.1%) and 13.1% higher compared to February 2020 (65.1 thousand),” he said.

“France was the country of origin and main destination for the flights,” he explained, “with Spain and the United Kingdom alternating between second and third places depending on the country of origin or destination of the flights.”

In the first two months of the year, the busiest airports were Lisbon (4.5 million passengers, 56.3% of the total) and Porto (1.8 million, 22.8% of the total).

Madeira Airport was the third airport with the highest passenger traffic as of the first two months of 2023 (636 thousand; +82.9%), overtaking Faro Airport.
