Bracknell, UK — Publisher Kalypso Media and developer Claymore Game Studios have announced the release of Commandos: Origins – No Man Left Behind, the second downloadable content (DLC) expansion for Commandos: Origins. The new content is scheduled to launch on April 28, 2026, across PC and consoles, extending the tactical stealth title’s storyline with a focus on a key narrative gap in the main campaign.

The DLC will be available on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, alongside Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox on PC, and PlayStation 4 and 5 platforms. Pricing has been set at £12.99 in the UK, with launch discounts offered across digital storefronts.

Filling a narrative gap in the main campaign

No Man Left Behind centres on the backstory of Jack O’Hara, known as the Green Beret, whose capture forms a pivotal moment in the base game’s plot. Set deep behind enemy lines in the Auvergne region of occupied France, the expansion places players directly into the events leading up to his imprisonment by German forces.

The storyline begins with a failed mission to extract an allied informant carrying high-value intelligence. Players take control of O’Hara in the opening mission, experiencing his capture firsthand before shifting perspective to the remaining Commandos squad.

Subsequent missions follow Thomas “the Sapper” Hancock, Francis T. “the Sniper” Woolridge, and Rene “the Spy” Duchamp as they attempt a high-risk rescue operation. The campaign unfolds across mountainous terrain, dense forests, and heavily guarded construction sites, combining environmental variety with layered tactical challenges.

Expanded gameplay mechanics and new threats

The DLC introduces four new missions, each designed to expand both narrative depth and gameplay complexity. Players are tasked not only with rescuing the captured Green Beret but also with uncovering intelligence tied to a prototype German superweapon under development in the region.

A key addition is the introduction of the Radio Operator enemy unit, described as a significant tactical threat. Unlike standard enemies, eliminating this unit without preparation can trigger an immediate global alarm, escalating difficulty across the map.

To counter this, players must first locate and disable signal enhancers to disrupt enemy communications. This mechanic reinforces the series’ emphasis on planning, timing, and precision—core elements of the stealth-tactics genre.

The expansion also features new non-playable characters, including informants and fellow prisoners, adding further narrative context and mission objectives.

Pricing strategy and launch incentives

Kalypso Media has confirmed a pricing structure aligned with previous DLC releases in the franchise. The expansion will retail at €14.99, £12.99, and $14.99 globally.

To incentivise early adoption, the publisher is offering a 10% launch discount on PC via Steam for 14 days and on Epic Games Store for seven days. Additionally, purchases through the Kalypso Store will benefit from a 14% discount during the first two weeks of release.

Strategic positioning within the franchise

The release of No Man Left Behind forms part of Kalypso Media’s broader strategy to extend the lifecycle of Commandos: Origins, which relaunched the long-standing Commandos franchise for modern platforms. By focusing on narrative-driven DLC, the publisher aims to deepen player engagement while maintaining a steady content pipeline.

The expansion’s emphasis on storytelling—particularly the origins of a central character’s capture—suggests a shift towards more character-focused content within the traditionally mechanics-driven series.

Key features of the DLC

Narrative and mission design

The DLC provides what the publisher describes as “the missing link” in the main campaign, revealing the events that led to the Green Beret’s capture and the subsequent rescue mission.

New environments

Players will navigate a large map set in the Auvergne region, featuring nighttime forest operations, mountainous landscapes, and fortified military installations.

Tactical challenges

The introduction of the Radio Operator enemy type adds a new layer of strategic planning, requiring players to disrupt communications before engaging.

Expanded objectives

Beyond rescue operations, missions include sabotaging a prototype German superweapon and gathering critical intelligence.
