Microsoft continues to make improvements to its chatbot, within Bing Chat, in order to improve the way users interact with it. However, at the same time, the company also appears to be focused on preventing competing companies from using Bing Chat data, or Bing itself, to create their own AI solutions.

According to the portal bloombergRecently, Microsoft sent notices to two search engines to stop using the contents of Bing searches in their results. The information comes from an internal source of the company, and it is not known which entities Microsoft will target, but it will use the Bing API to build its chatbots.

Remember that Bing provides an API that allows third parties to get search results for different platforms. It is in this format that search engines such as DuckDuckGo, Yahoo and others use their features. However, this API appears to be focused solely on searches, not using it as a way to develop custom chatbots within these entities – and given that Microsoft is building Bing Chat, they certainly don’t intend for third parties to use it. capabilities of their own artificial intelligence systems.

This can cause problems for search engines trying to get into the world of AI, and create their own AI solutions. According to the sources, Microsoft has even indicated that entities must stop using the API for their chatbots or risk losing the contract with the search engine.

While no company is mentioned on the issue, it is important to note that DuckDuckGo, which uses the Bing API, recently introduced DuckAssist, an assistant that uses artificial intelligence to assist with searches within the platform. Neeva is another platform that also uses the API, and recently introduced its own NeevaAI, which integrates AI solutions to help with user lookups.

On the one hand, Microsoft certainly does not want third parties to create a competing platform for Bing Chat, but at the same time, this action can have several effects on the development of chatbots on these search engines, because they are limited in the way searches can be performed.
