Mercadona will open next to Fernando Pessoa Hospital on October 4 and create 75 jobs

These are the three main conclusions of a study on the economic impact of Spanish supermarket chains in Portugal, conducted by the Center for Economic and Trade Policy Research of the University of Minho and Ive (Instituto Valenciano de Investigão Económica).
According to the same study, for every euro of revenue generated in Mercadona supermarkets, nine are generated in the economy and for every job, more than five new jobs are created in the country.
Regarding taxes, the Spanish retailer filed 726.5 million euros between 2019 and 2022.
