The Local Health Unit Médio Tejo (ULS Médio Tejo) was present at the first symposium “Humanizing Health – An Integral Value”, held in the Great Hall of the Faculty of Health Sciences, at the University of Beira Interior, in Covilhã. This event brought together professionals and specialists committed to the humanization of healthcare, promoting a space for discussion and exchange of good practices in the sector. Representing ULS Médio Tejo, Casimiro Ramos, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Humanization Committee of ULS Médio Tejo, and Carlos Gil, Executive Member, were present. The Humanization Committee of ULS Médio Tejo was also present. Rita Sanches, medical doctor and member of the committee, actively participated in the third session of the symposium on behalf of the committee, entitled “Good practices for the humanization of healthcare in Portugal – Presentation and discussion of examples of good practices”. During his intervention, he presented the project “Campaign to promote silence” by ULS Médio Tejo. The main aim of this campaign is to create a quieter hospital environment that is conducive to the recovery of users, by reducing noise levels in healthcare settings. This initiative stands out as an example of how small changes can have a big impact on wellbeing and the quality of care provided. The seminar was organised by the National Committee for the Humanisation of Healthcare in the National Health Service (CNHCS-SNS), to promote the national commitment to continuous improvement of healthcare services, with a focus on the dignity and respect of users.
