President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sent to the Federal Senate the nomination of six ambassadors for Brazil’s diplomatic posts abroad, in addition to Sérgio França Daneese as Brazil’s permanent representative to the United Nations (UN).

Notices are issued for submission of names Federal Official Gazette (DOU) Among them this Tuesday (21) is former Foreign Minister Antonio de Aguirre Patriota, Brazil’s ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Patriota has already served as ambassador to several countries such as Egypt, Italy and the United States.

To occupy the positions, nominees must be vetted in the Senate and their names must be approved in committee and in the full chamber of the House.

Other recommendations Lula sent to Congress:

– Paulino Franco de Carvalho Neto, Ambassador of Brazil to the Arab Republic of Egypt and, generally, to the State of Eritrea;

– Ricardo Neiva Tavares, Ambassador of Brazil to the French Republic and, at large, President of Monaco.

– Julio Klindernik Bitelli has been appointed Ambassador of Brazil to the Argentine Republic.

– María Luisa Ribeiro Viotti, appointed Brazil’s ambassador to the United States.

– Everton Vieira Vargas, Ambassador of Brazil to the Holy See and to the Sovereign and Military Order of Malta at large.
