It’s tomorrow! Find out if your smartphone does not support WhatsApp

Many months have passed in which the news of the end of support for the WhatsApp application was announced for many smartphones. There were even lists of equipment by manufacturers, although they were very questionable. That moment comes now, with support for many smartphones ending. WhatsApp support has now ended
WhatsApp is now reaching another moment of change and evolution.  Support for another version of Android will end, excluding some other devices that were hitherto supported by this meta-messaging service.

Therefore, all smartphones running a previous version will no longer be able to use WhatsApp.  There is also a mention of support for KaiOS 2.5.0 or later, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2.

As of October 24, 2023, only Android 5.0 or later will be compatible.








Many Android smartphones are affected
Since Android 4 is already many years old, it will have a minimal impact on the number of smartphones affected by the change.  The latest data puts this version at around 0.7% to 0.5% of all devices still in use.
However, even with these numbers, it is not possible to determine how many smartphones will be affected.  There will certainly be many who will not be able to use WhatsApp, with the only alternative remaining being to purchase a new device with a newer operating system.

Not many changes are expected
Interestingly, when it comes to the iPhone and Apple's operating system, nothing has changed in this history.  WhatsApp will continue to ensure access to any device running iOS 12 or later.  A change in this support is also not expected in the near future.
