Until two o’clock in the afternoon, the 31st, the municipality of Itapuna is carrying out another rambling action to vaccinate the population against influenza and boost it against Covid-19. This time it takes place at Praça Otávio Mangabeira until 2pm. If this is not possible, people should look for the health center closest to their home.

The action of Rede de Frio, of the municipal health department, seeks to expand vaccination coverage in the municipality, which is much lower than recommended by the Ministry of Health. Therefore, he alerts people to immunize themselves against influenza, mainly due to the advent of winter season with cooler temperatures, rains and humid winds from June 21st.

According to the coordinator of Rede de Frio, nurse Camila Brito, only 30% of the population has been immunized.

The target audience for the national influenza vaccination campaign is children from six months of age and adults. He explains that “this Wednesday, the 31st, will be the end of the campaign, but the federal government will have to extend it due to low vaccination coverage rates.”

The coordinator stresses the importance of vaccinating the population. “Vaccination gives us peace of mind regarding the circulation of viruses that can affect the respiratory system,” he said. In addition to the curfew, all health units in the municipality offer vaccinations from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 11 am and from 1 pm to 4 pm.
