Vladimir Konotop is a professor at the Department of Physics and researcher at the Center for Theoretical and Computational Physics at the University of Sciences of Lisbon. This year it was distinguished for the second time, by ULisboa and Caixa Geral da Depósitos (CGD) with a scientific award, in the field of Physics and Materials. The first scientific prize was awarded by ULisboa and CGD to the scientist in 2017. This second prize was presented in the noble hall of the rectory of ULisboa, on 23 November.

What does this distinction mean to you?
Vladimir Konotop (VK) – It is an important and honorable recognition of the importance of my work in the development of science at the University of Lisboa. Furthermore, the award itself is an excellent sign that the University of Lisboa, in collaboration with CGD, continues to focus on promoting high-quality, internationally recognized research, which forms the basis of the success of the Higher Education School.
What does your research consist of?
unscrew – My research focuses on the localization and transmission of light and matter in periodic and non-periodic structured media.
