A father from Wales is facing a difficult situation since his two children fell ill. Two years ago, her eldest son developed kidney failure and needed a kidney transplant. At that time, Kamil Chmielski donated the organ to his son. Currently, the family is once again struggling to wait for a donor, as youngest son Kamel suffers from very advanced kidney disease and has been waiting for a kidney since March, according to The Guardian. Wales Online.

Katarzyna, the mother of 10-year-old Alex, thought she could donate, but she received news that she was not eligible to donate because she was suffering from kidney stones. Alex was born with a rare genetic condition known as Joubert Syndrome. As time passed, his condition worsened and he also began to suffer from kidney problems.

Due to Alex’s health issues, the family knew he would need a transplant one day, but they never knew when, and that day came last year. While waiting for a donor, parents face tense moments. “We don’t know how long this will take. Cardiff Hospital are doing their best, but they can’t promise anything at this stage without a confirmed kidney donor, so we’re taking it one day at a time.” “Father lamented.

The boy is undergoing treatment at home. During the night for 10 hours, Alex undergoes dialysis to contain the disease, but his condition is very delicate. “The transplant is his only chance as his results are getting worse and they are increasing his medications to keep him stable. The worst thing about waiting is that we never know what will happen tomorrow. “Every day is a new stressful challenge,” Kamel said.

During this time of treatment, the family also experienced their lives completely change. “We can’t go anywhere for more than a day without a dialysis machine, and we can’t visit family or parents in Poland or anywhere in the world together, always apart. Alex misses a lot of his childhood activities. It’s hard to deal with the uncertainty because he’s just a kid He’s missing out on the best years of his life right now, so it’s hard trying to manage everything and stay on top of his medications and health, and still try to do fun things with him. An organ transplant is one of the greatest blessings a person can do for another. It can save a lot of life. Lives, but for some reason people are afraid. The best thing is to see how my son Gabriel grows after the kidney transplant – if I could do it again. Anytime anyone!” Father said.
