On Tuesday night (8/8), the Municipal Health Board (CMS) took an important step in the debate on public health policies for the population and equity in the SUS, holding a regular meeting of Arturus, the traditional community of Quilombola and the intangible Contagum Foundation. legacy.

The meeting took place at the invitation of the Assistant Project Coordinator of the Quilombola dos Arturos Community, Hiago Luz, who received the gifts along with his mother, Gorete Luz. With a different schedule than usual, the meeting began with a conversation about the history of the community and a presentation to the Congolese Junior Guard.

For Hiago Luz, who also spoke about the integrated health of the population of Quilombola, the initiative is very important to discuss the needs of the community, since the Unified Health System (SUS) considers equity as one of its principles, which aims at equal care . “The health board is the most important example of a SUS, because it brings health closer to the population at the institutional level. So, this meeting came to start many crucial discussions.”

The health advisor, Nelci Barreiros da Silva, said that this moment in which the council went to the community is crucial, because being close to the population is essential to building the health network. “We are here today, not just in theory, but in practice. And we know we still need to advance the right to health for all peoples. We will fight every day for better health,” he stressed.

During the meeting, topics were discussed: Integrative and Complementary Practices (PICS), Black Population Health and Quilombola. In his speech, the President of the Council, Marcos Mora, stressed that it is not only possible to take care of diseases, but it is also necessary to take care of health. “We have to be close to the population and share knowledge. The proportion of this meeting surprised us, that we can be closer and closer.”

Regular meetings are held once a month, with the three departments that make up SUS: Directors, Workers and Users. Participation in these meetings is open to the public. For information, the user may contact the Municipal Health Board by phone: 3472-6260.
