YuThe National Police arrested a 35-year-old man in Logroño, in the Spanish province of La Rioja, after he offered to rent his house, where he lived with his parents. However, it was a scam.

According to the Spanish press, the victims placed an advertisement on the Internet, in which they indicated that they were looking for an apartment for rent. Later, the suspect called them, telling them that he had an apartment in the center of Logroño.

The victims met the alleged future owner and visited the apartment. During the visit, the suspect told them that the apartment was currently occupied by other tenants who were due to move out, but that they could leave within days if they were interested. Deposit request of 300 euros and the amount corresponding to the first month’s rent: another 750 euros.

After a few days of not getting information about the apartment and without signing the rental contract, the victims realized that they could be victims of fraud and contacted the suspect asking him for the money back.

The man confirmed that he would return the money and sent two photo receipts for the alleged transfers. After going to the bank, the sufferers came to the conclusion that there were fake receipts.

After filing a police complaint, the man, who had no criminal record, was located and taken into custody.
