On Saturday (20) and Sunday (21), Guarulhos City Hall opened eight basic health units through the Atende Já Dengue program for the third weekend in a row. UBS Parque Cecap, Jardim Paulista, Jardim Acácio, Jovaia, Nova Bonsucesso, Inocoop, Parque Alvorada and Dona Luiza will operate from 7am to 5pm to care for people with dengue symptoms and update their vaccination card.
The Ministry of Health guidance is that people with mild symptoms of dengue fever, such as high temperature, body and joint pain, pain behind the eyes, malaise, headache and red spots, should request UBS. Only in the most serious cases, with severe stomach pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding in the nose and mouth or in the stool, dizziness and a lot of fatigue, are patients recommended to seek care in emergency care units (UPAs and PAs), whose addresses can be found at www. guarulhos.sp.gov.br/unidades-de-urgencia-e-emergencia-24-horas.
To date, Guarulhos has recorded 32,336 cases of dengue fever, with 33 deaths linked to the disease. The opening of UBS on Saturday and Sunday was a strategy by the city of Guarulhos to provide faster care, especially for the most serious cases, since the care provided to dengue patients with symptoms in the first quarter of this year in urgent and emergency services, 73% of which were mild cases that could be treated in UBS, the unified health system portal.
Moreover, since Wednesday (17) two full-fledged advanced buildings, including doctors, nursing teams, supplies and medicines, have been put into operation in Guarulhos, providing specialized care to residents suffering from dengue symptoms. One is linked to the UPA Paulista and the other to the Pronto Atendimento Paraventi. Two more, being set up in UPAs São João and Cumbica, will open by the end of this week, and they all operate from Monday to Sunday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
