At least 14 Eurostar trains This Saturday's cancellation was due to the closure of a route near London between cities in continental Europe and the United Kingdom, the company revealed. “Due to an infrastructure problem on the high-speed line near London, we have been forced to cancel some trains departing or terminating in London,” the Eurostar page says.

The problem is overflowing at Ebbsfleet International railway station in London. British Met Offices have warned of the risk of a tornado, along with strong winds, heavy rain and snow, and have issued severe weather warnings.

The suspensions, which take place on the busiest weekends of the year, will hold up thousands of commuters, Agence France-Presse said. According to British agency PA, trains were canceled due to flooding in a tunnel in southern England. The same agency says cancellations are expected to continue until the end of the day as heavy rain is forecast.

Already on December 21, just in time for the Christmas break, Eurostar passengers faced numerous train cancellations due to a strike that paralyzed the Channel Tunnel.
