Fast Money Music will release his latest single, “There Are No Words”, this Friday, marking the second preview of his forthcoming self-titled debut album, due out on 17 April 2026.
The new track follows the earlier single “Unfortunately”, issued at the start of the year, and signals a shift in tone. Where previous material leaned into tenderness and introspection, “There Are No Words” takes a sharper, more confrontational approach. Positioned as a counterpoint to the album’s bittersweet nostalgia, the song interrogates compatibility and strips away romantic illusions.
Driven by angular guitars and a muscular bassline, the track channels the turbulence of strained relationships, capturing moments of doubt over who is right, who is wrong, and when to walk away. Its refrain carries a self-aware edge, underscoring the emotional stalemate at its core. Musically, it nods towards the urgency of The Clash, the artful directness of The Modern Lovers, and the rhythmic bite of The Specials.
Nick Hinman, the creative force behind the project, said: “‘There Are No Words’ is exactly that – the loss of knowing what the right thing to do or say is. The phrase was originally plucked from a moment of awe and joy, but here it’s repurposed for the feeling of being backed into a corner with nothing left to give.”
The single also brings together a network of established collaborators. John Waugh of The 1975 contributes saxophone, while Steffan Halperin of Klaxons plays drums. Joshua Scarratt provides backing vocals and Joe Lyons performs on bass.
“There Are No Words” will feature on the upcoming album ‘Fast Money Music’, a record written over the course of a decade. The project blends bittersweet pop with jagged post-punk and jangle-driven melodies. Its influences range from the lo-fi textures of The Cleaners from Venus to the restless energy of Guided by Voices and the wiry funk of ESG.
Thematically, the album explores longing, identity and rejection, with an emphasis on timing and personal evolution.
Hinman said: “The debut Fast Money Music LP is a carousel of images and vignettes, some pulled from the attic, some found at the front door. It’s part novel, part autobiography, part love story, part tragedy, and part comedy: life on life’s terms. More than anything, it feels like the most authentically me – an amalgamation of memories and experiences, pulling from art pop, post-punk, and new wave, yet landing fully in its own world.”
The record was produced by Grammy-nominated Mikko Gordon alongside Hinman, mixed by Gordon at Hackney Road Studios, and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Matt Colton, whose previous credits include work with Depeche Mode, Peter Gabriel and Arctic Monkeys.
Further contributors to the album include George Daniel of The 1975, Jamie Reynolds of Klaxons, Daniel Vildòsola, as well as guest appearances from Oliver Marson and Zoë Bleu.
Since emerging in 2022, Fast Money Music has built a following across the independent circuit. The project has received support from BBC Radio 1 presenter Jack Saunders, BBC 6Music’s Steve Lamacq, Apple Music’s Matt Wilkinson and Radio X’s John Kennedy, alongside coverage from titles including SPIN, Clash and DIY.
Live, the act has delivered sold-out headline shows at venues across East London, appeared at Supersonic Paris and secured a slot at The Great Escape 2025, in addition to touring the UK in support of Tempesst.
With its blend of established collaborators and a growing industry profile, the release of “There Are No Words” signals a pivotal moment ahead of the album launch. ‘Fast Money Music’ is scheduled for release on 17 April 2026.
