Nowadays, it is no longer necessary to go to the store to conclude a contract. With a simple phone call, potential customers indicate that they intend to enter into a contract. However, there are always fraudulent schemes to watch out for.

Learn about some good practices in contracting services over a phone call.

PHONE CALL: ANACOM leaves some tips to avoid being scammed

Anacom warned He claims to be aware of the complaints of people contacted, through a telephone call, by individuals who use the name of this body to obtain commercial advantages, that is, by concluding new communications contracts, or to collect personal data.

Such attempts at fraud occur frequently, with the only difference being the approach taken by alleged ANACOM representatives who claim, for example, that they are conducting a study on the quality of Internet access or entering into communications contracts.

ANACOM does not conduct any such communications, so the information provided by these individuals is false. This body deeply regrets and condemns this type of practice.

Employment services over a phone call? Don't be fooled

In this context, we would like to point out the best practices that you should follow when contracting for services over the phone:

  • do not provide personal data to people you do not know;
  • request identification of the person who contacted you (name, company and department you represent);
  • Ask to be called back later and, in the meantime, confirm the identity of the operator who called you;
  • If you are interested in contracting for services, ask the operator to contact you directly on the operator's website;
  • Always keep in mind that ANACOM does not make calls to contract services

Please note that you should not receive calls for promotional purposes unless you expressly allow it. Companies can only contact consumers who have given their prior and express consent. To this end, they must maintain an updated list of consumers who authorize this type of connection.

If you have not given your express consent and are receiving calls for this purpose, we recommend that you contact the National Data Protection Commission, which is the competent authority to monitor these situations.
