Ahmed Refaat, the 31-year-old Egyptian international, died of a heart attack, after collapsing in March during a tournament match. At the time, he was in a coma for nine days and managed to recover after undergoing heart surgery to implant a pacemaker. But this time, he could not resist another heart attack and ended up dying, leaving a wave of panic in Egypt, especially at the Mostakbal club he represented, in addition to leaving many football figures emotional.

Among them is Mohamed Salah, one of the team’s most charismatic players, who took to social media to leave a message of support for his family: “May God give strength to his family and loved ones,” the Liverpool striker wrote.

In turn, coach Carlos Queiroz sent a longer message as he knew the player well since he was the coach of Egypt: “He was a good person and a real talent in football. His soul and heart were born to appreciate the beautiful side of the Egyptian national team. His graceful and skillful football brought magic to the football fields, and I sincerely believe that God will protect you with mercy and compassion. Thank you, my dear friend, for everything you have done for Egypt and for my team. An honor.”

Ahmed Refaat played nine international matches with the Egyptian national team.
