Today, Friday, Portuguese swimmer Diogo Ribeiro qualified for the final of the 100-meter butterfly at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, breaking the national record for the distance.
Diogo Ribeiro had the best time in the semifinals, swimming in 51.30 seconds, 15 one-hundredths of a second off his previous national record.
This will be the second final for Diogo Ribeiro in Doha, after he became world champion in the 50 meter butterfly.
The 100m butterfly final is scheduled to take place on Saturday at 4:42pm (Lisbon time).
In the morning, after ensuring his presence in the semi-finals of the 100-meter butterfly, 19-year-old Diogo Ribeiro swam in the 50-meter freestyle, but he was unable to qualify for the semi-finals, achieving the 18th time with a time of 22.14 seconds. Just two hundredths from last place, Slovakia's Matej Dosa (16th).
Miguel Nascimento finished the 50-meter freestyle qualifiers, scoring 26th, with a time of 22.25 seconds.
