Desire Coelho publishes her first column in Estadão on nutrition, sports and behaviour

Maintain a food Health is among the lifestyle habits that are essential for preventing and controlling many diseases. But this is also one of the areas where the most myths spread, causing many people to develop strained relationships with food. To demystify beliefs in the food world and look at the latest scientific evidence, starting Monday the 15th of this month, the nutritionist's column will debut Coelho's desire.

Author of the book “Why can't I lose weight?” (Editora Fontanar) and co-author of the book “The perfect diet” (Editora Paralela) Desire has a strong career in practice and holds a Bachelor's degree in Sports, a Doctorate and a Master's degree in Science from the University of São Paulo, specializing in eating disorders and behavior analysis.

Desire says she discovered her love of nutrition in 2001, while studying sports at the University of São Paulo (SP). In 2005, she started her Master's degree in Physical Education at the University of the South Pacific and enrolled in the Faculty of Nutrition at Centro Universitário São Camilo. During this period, he specialized in Ambolim, the eating disorders program at the University of the South Pacific Institute of Psychiatry. There he learned about the harms of restrictive diets.

In 2010, he began his doctoral studies at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of the South Pacific. Part of it was conducted in Paris, France, at the Laboratory of Nutritional Physiology and Nutritional Behavior of AgroParisTech/INRA (National Institute for Agricultural Research).

Desire also helped shape the first class of USP's Sports Nutrition Specialization course, for which she was co-coordinator and instructor until 2014. While she was working on changing habits, she felt the need to further study psychology, and more specifically behavior analysis.
