The Minister of Health Surveillance, Ethel Maciel, said on Tuesday (2) that the majority of Brazilian states have already emerged from the peak of dengue fever.

Of the 27 federal units, Eight of them are in a “consolidated downtrend” and 12 are in a “stable trend.”

“We have a decrease in potential dengue cases. This is getting worse. The epidemic in the states is a little different now,” the minister noted.

According to the Ministry of Health, So far, 2,624,300 probable cases of dengue have been recorded across the country in 2024.

The latest disease survey, released on Tuesday, indicates that 991 people have died from dengue, and another 1,483 deaths are under investigation.

“We already have eight states with a uniform downward trend,” Ethel added. “And twelve states with a stable trend. This means they have already passed the peak. There are seven states with an upward trend.”

SP City Hall expects to begin vaccination against dengue on Thursday

But the government reported it Caution is required, because countries that are moving towards stability may witness growth or decline in their numbers.

Even in states with a downward trend, people should continue to combat mosquito infestations in their homes.

“We still need to look carefully. We have reached the peak, but the curve still has to go down. In the coming weeks we will see whether the decline will be longer. A moment of decline, but very carefully. We are still in a moment that requires attention,” Ethel said. “.

This information was presented during a press conference held by the Ministry of Health on Tuesday in Brasilia.

The aim of the press conference was to update the epidemiological scenario of dengue fever in the country and present the main measures to prevent and control the disease.
