There is still no vaccine for dengue fever. People with symptoms and needing care should seek out the health unit closest to their home, which is open from 7am to 5pm. In cases of severe symptoms, the patient must go to the Hospital Cirúrgico Camboriú (HCC).
Methods of prevention:
– Avoid using dishes in plant pots. If using, sand to brim;
– keep litter boxes covered;
– Always leave the water tanks closed, without any openings, especially the water tanks;
– Plants such as bromeliads should be avoided, because they collect water;
– Treat the pool water with chlorine and clean it once a week;
– keep drains closed and unclogged;
– Wash animal food and water bowls with a brush at least once a week;
