aIn addition to addressing the controversy surrounding Betty Grafstein's house, José Castelo Branco also spoke about the recent discussion at an institution in Lisbon.

[…] I was with two friends and I told them I should go out and smoke a cigarette, and they said, “Smoke here.” I went out and lit a cigarette and there was a woman saying she was eating. I immediately put out the cigarette in a glass of water. Soon, on time. I didn't even have time to smoke.”
“When I put out the cigarette, I get up and go outside to smoke. Two people come to me. And when these two people come to me, they say: ‘How can you think you can do everything because you are rich, famous, married to a rich old woman, your son should be ashamed of you. José Castelo Branco also stated that he apologized the next day, referring to the video he posted on Instagram.

When asked if he was “really happy”, he replied: “I'm happy but I have a lot of fears. My biggest fear is not having Betty by my side. […] Betty is the helm of the ship, she is the captain of the ship and I am the captain of the ship now. “I can't imagine that I would feel like a drifting boat.”
Regarding the less good comments he has received over the years, he said: “When I am insulted, I jump up and face the bull. I only cry when I feel a lot of pain inside, when I see my house is weak, when I know my son is in trouble. When my mother was alive, I cried a lot.”.
He still talks about his son, saying: “My son is amazing. I am very proud of this Guilherme.”
