To mark World Bee Day – celebrated on the 20th – Bentley has announced the expansion of its Bentley Honey Production Center of Excellence in Crewe, UK, increasing the size of the famous Bentley Bees colony from 600,000 to over a million through the installation of seven new hives.

As part of its ‘Beyond100’ strategy, Bentley is focused on making its historic Crewe campus more environmentally friendly as it moves towards a leadership position in sustainable luxury mobility. In addition, Bentley encourages its employees to promote local diversity by distributing wildflower seeds for planting in their communities.

Welcoming the new bees to Team Bentley, Andrew Robertson, Director of Facilities and Site Planning:

“Bentley bees have been working at our facilities for nearly five years, producing over 2,000 jars of honey for our wonderful colleagues and customers. We hope, with the installation of seven new hives, in addition to the ten already in our honey production center of excellence, that we can increase “Our positive impact on the local environment, within the scope of a more comprehensive sustainability programme. This underscores how Bentley continues to make a significant contribution to local biodiversity and our ambition to be leaders in sustainable luxury mobility.”

In partnership with Buckley Bees, Bentley has installed a colony of 120,000 native bees, as part of the British brand’s sustainable #GOTOZERO strategy. This year, the colony will grow to more than 1 million bees in 17 active hives on the company’s headquarters. The Crewe-based manufacturer hopes that by 2023 Bentley can surpass last year’s record honey yield, when bees produced more than 1,000 jars of honey, meanwhile helping to pollinate local plants and bringing far-reaching benefits to the Cheshire countryside. Ocean. .

The Center of Excellence for Honey Production is just one of many initiatives underway to improve the sustainability of campus facilities in Crewe. Other activities include craft crates for birds and bats placed around campus by Bentley colleagues, highways for hedgehogs, and vegetable gardens for new expansion phases of staff. These initiatives help Bentley support local wildlife and enhance the natural beauty of local areas, while increasing the mental well-being of employees through the provision of green spaces.
