Bizzy’s wife, María Luis Barros, took to social media to describe her sheer horror with one of the couple’s sons, Afonso, at a hospital in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates.
“We went from migraine and vomiting to suspected meningitis in an isolated room in intensive care. I cannot tell you what I felt during these hours. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve yet captured all the feelings I’ve been through since we walked into that room and was told Afonso had an infection around his brain. I collapsed, alone in the room with Afonso, as soon as the doctor left the door,” she began describing María Luis Barros.
Betzi’s companion, the current unit player, continued her story: «I saw the fear on his face, and tried not to cry, and my mother told me to wipe your face, the doctor will come and see you crying», How do we deal? With this in a desperate situation? I tried to insure myself, for him, his father on our side, our balance improved, and everything became easier to manage. After the result of the lumbar puncture, fortunately, we were diagnosed with viral meningitis due to enterovirus. We breathed a sigh of relief after realizing that this was the best they could tell us on this issue.”
“Afonso was brave and soon had a positive reaction out of intensive care. This was the biggest horror we have ever been through,” concluded María Luis Barros, revealing that her son had already been discharged from the hospital.
