Beja Airport has more private flights, but commercial flights will be reduced. SIC is aware that the Air Force argued to the technical committee that the airport could not be used for regular charters.

In 2021, 221 flights arrived at Beja Airport. In 2022 the value rose to 302.

They are mainly private jets and SIC knows how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently got down to bejaBefore going to Melides.

On ‘premium’ flights, most passengers come from the US, France and the UK. Because of that they are changing the tires for the beeja Peace and proximity to beaches and luxury developments along the Alentejo coast.

SIC tried to understand why the Beja was not being used when there were no vacancies at Lisbon Airport. The airport director, Maurício Nunes, declined to be interviewed. Chamber president points finger at airlines.

The Air Force argued with the Independent Technical Commission that the airport could not be used for regular commercial aviation as found by the SIC. This is because The NATO base uses the runway for military exercises.

That is why the Commission is recommending greater use to mitigate Lisbon and Faro – but only for cargo and regular charters.

It’s two hours from Beja to Lisbon… by train

The report also concludes that there is no substitute for beeja due to lack of access. The train to Lisbon takes just over two hours.
