“As long as I am at Porto, Sergio Conceição will always be my coach and the club’s coach.”

Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa said on Wednesday that as long as he remains in charge of FC Porto, Sergio Conceição will continue in his position as coach of the club.

“Sergio Conceicao is the technical director of FC Porto. It was my personal choice. As long as I am at Porto, he will always be my coach and the coach of the club,” the technical director of FC Porto answered to reporters, on the sidelines of the launch of Domingos Paciencia’s book, at the Museo dos Dragoes.

The club president also expressed his desire for Conceição to stay for many years: “Because I would love to see FC Porto win.”

Last Sunday, after the match between Porto and Arauca, Rui Moreira targeted Francisco Conceição, the athlete and son of the Dragoes coach, and Sergio Conceição himself. In a comment on the social networking site Facebook, the mayor of Porto wrote, “We have a failed coach.”

When asked about the mayor’s statements, Pinto da Costa confirmed that the matter did not represent a problem for him: “Everyone has the opportunity to express their opinion about anything, and it did not affect me at all.”
