A BOLA – Benfica with an unusual start to the new season, but no excuses for the Super Cup (women’s football)

At Stadium No. 1 on the Benfica Campus, in Sexal, at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, the official season of the women’s national football will begin, with Benfica hosting FC Braga for the Super Cup.

The cup will be contested this season by the top four seeded from the last BPI League, who will face each other in a semi-final followed by a final, scheduled for Day 26, at 20.30pm, in Leiria.

Filipa Patão reviewed the match at Estádio José Martins Vieira in Almada. “We can expect a ready-made team, or try to be as good as possible, given the somewhat unusual pre-season. Since we are at Benfica, there are no excuses here, we did our best to get the whole team on the same level, in the same shape. They did an excellent job, they were fanatical ”, he praised the coach.

“We will fight and I am sure they will give an excellent response in the first official competition. The main challenge is for our players to understand that they will have to adapt more to the game, and that is a lot of their understanding of the game itself and the engagement that happens. We will also do our job to convey as much information as possible. And it ends. It is a good test of their adaptability in the game,” he explained.

Philippa Patau considers the semi-final match “a good challenge and also a moment of growth”. “For our part, we should focus more on who we are, on our principles and dynamics, and then try to adapt that into the game. We are very focused on getting titles, even though we know that even in terms of timing is not ideal, considering that we have The next Champions League qualifiers, but it’s a great goal.”

“We want to win everything, so we have to do everything to win. We usually tell these players that if they want to win and be happy for Benfica, they will have to fight for Benfica on the pitch as well. This is where we need the greatest. Our strength, the fans, who will surely give us another boost when necessary. I know the match time is not attractive, but I am sure these girls will deserve it,” she asserted, convinced.
