Google Calendar bug generates events in random Gmail messages

While not everyone likes it, Google has integrated Gmail with Google Calendar at some key points. These allow you to create new entries in the calendar as certain messages appear.

This was a perfectly working mechanism, until a new problem arose. New events are generated, completely randomly, in Gmail messages that were not expected.

Since 2019, Google has allowed users to automate much of their schedule. In many cases, it dispenses with the need to create new events, as this is an automatic process that assumes some intelligence.

This is an important union between Gmail and Google Calendar, and thus they work closely together. Filters and automations read messages and create relevant entries in users' calendars.

It's weird!

The problem now is that this mechanism seems to have taken more control. I started creating new events that made no sense to users, without a recognizable pattern. It seems sufficient for the messages to have a date in their texts.

Based on what is being reported, many of the messages appear to be random and you should not generate these events in Google Calendar. Moreover, again showing a lack of pattern, even newsletter messages create these events.

Although there is no solution to this problem yet, it must come from Google and in the coming days. Until then, the tech giant recommends turning off this feature. Simply go to Settings in Google Calendar and disable the option to create new Gmail events.

It appears to be a worldwide bug affecting many users. A solution should appear soon thus eliminating this issue that is clogging up Google Calendar and filling users with unnecessary notifications.
