62 Stephen & Stacey
"I'm 28 years old and this time last year I had a conversation with my Mum saying that I was finished with girls and that I was going to concentrate on myself for a while, get a mortgage and find somewhere to live. Mum thought that was the best thing to do and she said that somewhere in the future there would be a girl that deserved me. 2 weeks later I met Stacey and she changed my world. She is so beautiful on the inside and out. She is so kind.
Her family has welcomed me with open arms as mine have Stacey. Everyone we know is so happy for us.
I knew she was the girl I wanted to marry right from the start, so when we visited New York in January (which is somewhere we had both always wanted to go) I decided to propose to her at the top of the Statue of Liberty. It wasn't easy getting the ring through the security there without her seeing but I managed it and I was ecstatic when she said "Yes".
We have gone through so much in the time we've been together, her family's home was badly damaged by fire and they have had to move to temporary accommodation, we have tried to help out in as many ways as we can and have temporarily adopted Kai the family dog as the can't have him with them until they are able to move back home.
Then just 2 weeks ago my much loved granddad became ill and sadly passed away. Stacey was so supportive, always there at the hospital with me, picking my nieces up from school so my sister could be at the hospital and just doing everything she could to help out. I don't think I'd have got through it without her. At least before my granddad died we were able to tell him we were getting married and when, as we have set the date for July 2012. I can't wait.
We are planning the wedding on a small budget but I think she deserves so much more and I'd love to give her the wedding of her dreams. I love her so much."
