Emergency services, including the Air Ambulance, have been at the scene of a four-vehicle collision on the A1(M) Northbound...

Police, Fire and Ambulance crews were called to the carriageway, close to Junction 6 near Welwyn, shortly before 8 o'clock this morning.

The road was closed while the collision was dealt with.

Herts Fire and Rescue Service Tweeted this update just before 8am: "Welwyn Garden City appliances attended A1M Junc 5 6 to a multiple vehicle RTC. One trapped casualty was removed using Lukas and delivered to the care of @EastEnglandAmb"

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances, an ambulance officer and East Anglian Air Ambulance are at the scene".

Kerry messaged BOB fm: "It’s really bad 5 fire engines 3 ambulances, police, air ambulance. So awful".

Another listener, also called Kerry, said: "I haven’t moved since 8am still stuck just before the exit for Welwyn. It’s really bad 5 fire engines 3 ambulances, loads of police, air ambulance. So awful :("
